If you’ve been on the fence about getting a Steam Deck yourself, this might be enough to convince you. I logically wanted to get this to run on. For those who don't know, AM2R is a free fan made remake of the Game Boy Game Metroid 2 Samus Returns. It's just easier and what the SteamDeck was built to do. It’s great to see that the Steam Deck is now another option to access that amazing experience. TL DR, when possible don't install Linux versions of non steam games on the steam deck download the windows versions and run them with proton. PrimeHack has been one of the best ways, if not the best way entirely, to experience the Prime Trilogy. The touchpad in particular opens the door for precise FPS controls, but if that doesn’t suit you, FabianDR says you can utilize gyro controls instead. This is their “favorite way to replay the Trilogy with perfect controls,” reporting 60fps at 3x resolution and high-res texture packs, and higher field-of-view and touchpad aiming thanks to PrimeHack. This has allowed fans to experience the Prime Trilogy in a whole new way – with higher resolution, enhanced textures, higher field-of-view, mouse-and-keyboard controls, and much more. ![]() The Trilogy has long been a popular choice for emulation on PC for years, thanks to software emulator Dolphin and one of its specialized builds, PrimeHack. I have Other M setup on a Steam Deck with quite the good control scheme, where I automatically activate 1st person mode when moving one of the trackpads, and everything else is done through normal controls, but it's hard to say how well would this translate to other controller schemes. While another year passes without the Metroid Prime Trilogy available on the Nintendo Switch, this hasn’t stopped dedicated fans from getting the modern handheld console experience for the beloved game collection.
